One salon, one floor, one team.

Glam Studios Kamla Nagar is a salon for women and men at B-18, Ground Floor, Kamla Nagar, Agra, operated by Glamour Emporium (proprietor Ankur Agarwal). The team of eight works on one floor: hair, colour, keratin, makeup, skin, nails and the front desk. Clients name our people in their reviews, and that is the kind of floor we want to keep.

What we hire for.

Hairstylist — cuts for women and men, blow-dry, styling; colour and keratin a plus. Hair colour technician — global, highlights, balayage, grey coverage, on professional ranges. Makeup artist — HD and airbrush, bridal and party; a portfolio on real clients. Beautician — facials, cleanups, waxing, threading, D-Tan, manicure and pedicure. Nail technician — extensions, gel, nail art. Front desk and salon manager — bookings on WhatsApp and phone, billing, the day's roster, stock. Salon assistant — shampoo, prep, the floor and the tools; a place to start and learn.

Nine working hours, a meal break, one weekly off for everyone.

The studio serves clients seven days a week, and the team does not. Every member of the team — stylists, makeup artists, beauticians, managers and helpers — has one weekly day off, taken in rotation, so that the floor stays staffed and nobody works a seven-day week. The roster for the week is put up in advance, and a swap is arranged with the manager.

A working day on the floor is a ten-hour shift that includes a one-hour meal break: nine working hours, forty-eight in a week. Any hour beyond nine in a day is overtime, paid at twice the ordinary rate, and no day runs past eleven hours. Bridal days can start earlier for the artist booked on them; that is agreed when the booking is taken, not on the morning, and the hours count the same way.

We work by the Uttar Pradesh Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, by choice.

With eight people, this salon is below the twenty-employee threshold at which the Act applies, under the state's 2025 amendment. We keep to its standards anyway, because they are the right way to run a floor: nine working hours and forty-eight a week, overtime at double rate and never past eleven hours in a day, one weekly off for everyone, a written letter of appointment for every employee stating the post and the pay, seating for anyone whose work keeps them standing, and no one under eighteen on the team. Women on the evening shift, which runs past seven, work it with their written consent and are seen home safely. Salary is fixed monthly and paid on a fixed date, as the appointment letter says. Training on the professional ranges we use is given in the studio. Tools are disinfected between clients and disposables are single-use, for the client and for you.
